CULINARY 101
This program is for ages 6+. This program operates in two models. The first is centered around teaching students the health benefits of making snacks from whole foods as opposed to buying processed alternatives. Each class students create their own visual art piece out the the snack they consume. ASTRO provides each student with a 150 calorie snack and necessary equipment. The 6-10 week program meets once or twice per week for two to three hours. The ASTROcurricular approach is results driven with a curriculum designed to increase the number of participants setting and achieving program related goals. Each student is evaluated on their comprehension of learning objectives. ASTRO Culinary programs are aligned with common core and can be offered as an Expanded Learning Opportunity (ELO).




CULINARY 110
The second model is for ages 11+. It focuses on culinary arts as a career. Students complete serve safe certification and learn basic knife, saute, baking, and presentation techniques. There is a focus on using only natural, whole foods and vegetarian ingredients. All supplies and materials provided by ASTRO. If done at a school or day program, kitchen space is required. The 6-10 week program meets once or twice per week for two to three hours. The ASTROcurricular approach is results driven with a curriculum designed to increase the number of participants setting and achieving program related goals.
